If you’re looking for something a bit different for your little one’s first birthday, a milk bath session is worth considering. It works well as part of a birthday shoot alongside a cake smash and tub splash, or as a standalone session for babies who can sit confidently on their own.
The milk bath itself is simple. We use my clear tub with a small amount of milk added to the water to give it that soft, creamy colour. The milky water is flattering for baby skin and makes colours pop nicely, which is why florals, fruit, and greenery all work so well in it. Oranges and strawberries are popular choices and have the added advantage of doubling as a snack.
You don’t have to wait until a first birthday to do a milk bath session. As long as your baby can sit steadily and unsupported, it’s an option. That usually means from around eight months onwards, so it can also work nicely as part of a Baby Photography Club session if you’d like it to.
Just let me know when you’re booking if you’d like to include a milk bath and we’ll plan the rest of the session around it.
