About Me

Gosh these sections are a nightmare to write.  I never know what to say…

I can tell you how I’m ‘passionate about photography‘ but then pretty much every photographer gets that into the first sentence of their about me blurb so you wouldn’t know if it was true or if it was just a peer pressure thing.  I could tell you how my love of photography grew from photographing my own children but that just wouldn’t been true. I’ve loved photography since I was about 12. I went to night classes at my local college when I was 13 and there definitely were no kids involved at that point.  See, but now I’m worried that I’ve inadvertently strayed down the ‘passionate about’ route…

So sticking to the facts might be the safest option.

Sarah Fisher Photography East Grinstead Photographer
It’s very hard to choose a profile picture but I absolutely refuse to have one holding a camera so I’m holding a glass (which isn’t unheard of) and I’m just going to ask you to take it on trust that I’m a photographer and can hold a camera with no problems.

How It Started…

When I left uni, I had lots of different jobs that didn’t really make me happy. They weren’t bad jobs but just not the kind of thing that I could see myself doing until I was old and grey.  So eventually I took the plunge, and after lots of retraining, qualifying and practicing, I became a fully fledged professional photographer. Luckily for me, I didn’t have to make this big decision and sometimes stressful journey alone as somewhere along the way, I’d fallen in love and got married.  So both my husband and I had made the same decision so we worked through it all together.  Which is a much nicer way to do things.

Two decades on and I can honestly say it was the best decision we ever made.  We’ve been in a few studios along our journey but now I am incredibly lucky to now have a gorgeous boutique studio in the grounds of our home near East Grinstead in West Sussex.   So I’ve spent the last decade turning this lovely space into my second home and cramming it full of as many props, accessories, backdrops and lighting options as possible so I can offer the maximum amount of variety to my wonderful clients.

How It’s Going

I started off mostly being a wedding photographer which I did love but then I decided to add in portraiture to my portfolio too.  So Fisher Weddings became Sarah Fisher Photography a little over ten years ago.  As you can see, I’m not super creative when it comes to naming my businesses but I absolutely promise that I’m brimming with new ideas when it comes to creating your images!

So now I’m exclusively studio based and I specialise in providing maternity, newborn, baby, family and dog photography to my visitors.

What Makes Me Different…

OK, I’m British so as you read this, you can picture me cringing with the discomfort of ‘selling myself’.  When it comes to what makes me different to the many other photographers out there, I’d have to say that my two decades worth of experience probably comes into play.  I keep my photography fresh by always looking for the next new thing – in fact I was one of the first photographers to introduce cake smash and tub splash photography into my suite of services, and I’m never going to get bored of looking for new ways to capture the memories that are important to you.

I also have never utilised sales and viewing meetings as part of my business – even when I was explicitly told in the early days that I’d never last unless I did.  I hate to be sold to and so you can rest assured that I’m never going to do it to you. You’ll be able to view your session images in your private online gallery and make the decisions about what to purchase that are right for you.  All of my photography, prints and digital options are openly priced – you’ll know exactly what your costs will be before you even head over to the studio – no secrets and no surprises.  Just happy memories!

So Look Around…

Anyway, you didn’t ask for my life story so I’ll end by saying, welcome to my online space – make yourselves at home, have a poke around, check out my Galleries and get in touch if you have any specific questions – I’m always happy to chat (Seriously. It drives my husband mad).

Let's stay in touch
