If you’re not sure what to expect from a maternity session, here’s how it typically goes.
Before your session
Once you’ve booked, you’ll get a confirmation email with a bit of useful information to read through. The day before your session, you’ll receive an options form where you can tell me which studio dresses, backdrops, and props you’d like to include. If you’ve been collecting images on Pinterest or saving photos that reflect the style you’re after, you’re welcome to send those over too. It’s not essential, but it helps to see what you have in mind.
On the day
The studio is tucked away in the garden, so it’s just the two of you and complete privacy. We’ll start with a quick chat about what you’d like to do, look through anything you’ve brought along, and talk through whether you want to include any bare bump or implied nude shots. There’s no pressure either way, and nothing is assumed.
Then we get going. The studio has two distinct areas: a bright white side for light and airy images, and a dark side with a black backdrop for more dramatic, silhouette-style shots. Other coloured backdrops and the bed set go up on the white side. We’ll usually start there with your first outfit and work through the plan, with me guiding you through poses throughout. Your comfort sets the pace, and we keep going until we’ve got everything you wanted.
After your session
Editing takes around two weeks. Once your gallery is ready, you’ll get a link to your private online gallery where you can view everything and add your favourites to a list. Three images are included in your session fee. If you’d like more, you can add them to your basket and check out through the gallery. Most people go for digital images for the flexibility, and those are delivered as a download directly to your device.
