One of the nicest things about booking a maternity shoot at the studio is that you don’t have to stress about what to wear.
I keep a collection of maternity dresses at the studio that you’re welcome to use during your session. They’ve been chosen specifically because they photograph well, they’re comfortable to wear, and they suit a range of body shapes and stages of pregnancy. Whether you’re drawn to something flowing and dramatic or something a bit simpler and softer, there’s usually something that works.
Why use the studio dresses?
Mainly because it takes one big decision off your plate. Finding the right outfit when you’re heavily pregnant isn’t always straightforward, and a lot of clients tell me they wouldn’t have known where to start. The studio dresses are there so you don’t have to. Many of them are also adjustable, so fit tends not to be an issue.
What styles are available?
The collection covers quite a range. There are fitted gowns, open-front styles, flowing fabrics, lace, tulle, and a few bolder statement pieces for anyone who wants something a bit more dramatic. You’re also welcome to mix and match during your session if you’d like a variety of looks.
When it comes to colour, neutral and pastel tones tend to work really well on camera and suit most backgrounds, but there are some richer colours in the collection too if that feels more like you.
Can I bring my own outfit?
Absolutely. The studio dresses are there as an option, not a requirement. Plenty of clients bring their own clothing and we build the session around that. If you’re unsure what would work best, just ask and I’ll give you an honest steer.
One thing worth knowing: most of the dresses are quite long, so you won’t need to worry about shoes. Bare feet are completely fine and honestly most people prefer it.
