
Every so often a portrait session results in someone rather extraordinary stepping in front of the camera.
This particular gentleman arrived already decorated for service, wearing a coat of honourable medals and carrying himself with the calm confidence of someone who has clearly seen things… probably squirrels.
I love creating these historical style portraits because they let a bit of imagination creep into the studio. With the right costume and a suitably noble expression, even the most modern of dogs can suddenly look like they’ve stepped straight out of a grand oil painting from another century.
And in this case, I think we can all agree he absolutely understood the assignment.
