I like to have magical props in the Forest for my fairies to experience and where possible I make or personalise them as much as possible.  This is my magic lantern which glows with fairy light to show the way through the Forest.

I like to to think that the fairies left it for me to find at a car boot sale a few years ago and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for (must be fairy magic right?).  It was in a bit of a battered old state so I bartered – well you have to at a car boot sale – took it home and took to restoring it.  Once I’d got it de-dented and de-rusted, it was time to start making it look old and battered again.  The irony of this is not lost on me but it wouldn’t have been safe or comfortable for my fairies to hold in it’s original rusty state.  I just love projects like this, they really light my creative fire and my family have learned not to ask questions when I fill the house with odd items ready to be repurposed – they are pretty tolerant of my flights of fancy by now!

Anyway, it’s now a beautiful and magical addition to my Forest prop set, and shines it’s light in lots of fairy images.
