That’s starting school done for another year, and what a day.
From shy smiles to full on pocket rockets (and you know who you were) today has been packed with smart uniforms, shiny shoes and an enormous amount of love for the giant pencil.
I made it last week off the back of something I saw on Pinterest, and I genuinely did not expect it to be the thing every single child made a beeline for. It turns out that giving a child something huge to hold solves a lot of problems at once. The quieter ones had something to hide behind, the bolder ones had something to wave about, and I got proper smiles from both.
Uniforms this year ranged from brand new and slightly too big to well worn and clearly loved. Both are exactly right. These photos are about who your child is in the week everything changes, not about looking perfectly turned out.
