Set four of four. This one is Pine Swing.
A wooden swing seat hanging in the dark, with pine and holly berries trailing down one side and a fur throw over the seat. There’s nothing behind it, which is the point. It looks less like a studio and more like somewhere you’ve wandered out to on a cold evening.
It’s the last of this year’s four and the one I’ve been quietly looking forward to building most.
Who it suits
This one is for the children. The swing is set at a height that works for them, so it’s their set rather than a family one, and there’s something about being sat on a swing that makes a child relax in a way that a chair never quite does. Feet dangling, hands on the ropes, and the fidgeting stops.
If a grown up wants to be in the picture, you can stand behind the swing rather than sit on it, which works nicely for a parent with an older child.
It suits siblings too, since there’s room for two side by side, and it’s a set where they’ll naturally lean into each other rather than being asked to.
What to wear
Good news here. Your Frosty Forest outfit will work perfectly on this set, so there’s no need for a fourth change.
Warm neutrals are what you want, so cream, oatmeal, rust and forest green, and texture matters more than colour. Cable knit, cord and velvet all show beautifully against the pine. Bare feet look lovely dangling off the swing seat.
The only extra thing worth knowing: if a grown up is standing behind, something with a bit of light in it reads better than black, since the background behind the swing back is very dark.
Booking
Pine Swing is one of four sets, and your session includes all of them. Sessions run from Friday 13 to Sunday 22 November at my studio in Crawley Down, and cost £35 including your favourite digital image.
Booking opens at 8am on Thursday 1 October. If you’re on my Christmas VIP list, you can book from 7am. Weekend slots go quickly, so that hour is your best chance of the time you want.
