This post tells the story of baby Alfie. Baby Alfie came to visit the studio for his newborn photos along with his mum and dad but baby Alfie did not want to sleep. Or rather, he was not happy sleeping whilst not curled up on a person or being fed. When being fed, he was very happy to snooze but then, despite us all being as sneaky as possible, he had sixth sense when he was being lowered down on to my (very comfy) giant beanbag. And baby Alfie would wake up!
This continued for quite some time, until finally we managed to get Alfie to drop off deeply enough to snatch some photos. Baby Alfie however, was smarter than we thought and cottoned on to this and yes, you guessed it, woke up.
However, there is a happy ending to this tale of Alfie and the Wide Awake Club – a wakeful baby doesn’t need to be the end of the world when it comes to newborn photography. He was happy when he was getting cuddles from mum and dad – and who wouldn’t be? – so we focused there. We created in the end some beautiful photos of them together as a family and of course captured those little hand and feet details. With just a few of him sleeping (and yes, I am counting that as a win)…
