When you see the images of sleeping newborns, they do look like little angels and so this fluffy cloud shot is the perfect way to capture them!
It’s actually a digital backdrop that I’ve had for ages but this is the first time that it’s been selected and so I was delighted to be able to finally use it. I just love the finished result. In the studio, your little is simply in a bowl with a lot of toy stuffing keeping them supported and snug, but in the finished image, they’re sleeping peacefully in the sky!
How It Works: Behind the Scenes
I’d love to have this set up in real life but space and time prohibits that so I’ll take the digital version as a good substitute. The process of shooting the base image is simple:
- Comfort First: Your baby is carefully positioned in a wooden bowl that is filled with fluffy white stuffing (and padded with a blanket and beanbags so they are super comfy). This gives me the right base position to blend into the backdrop.
- Expert Posing: I settle them and take the picture
- The Magic of Editing: The rest of the magic happens in my editing suite where the base image is blended into the backdrop.
Perfect for Any Newborn Session
This style of newborn photography is a great addition to any newborn session and, if it’s your thing, it’s an easy way to add a fantasy element to your finished image gallery to complement
- Simple wrapped and posed portraits
- Real life props
- Sibling and family shots
- Themed and seasonal setups

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead
Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old—this is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully serene images. To ensure you don’t miss out, I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—we’ll set a provisional date for a week after your due date and adjust if needed once your baby arrives.
Your session takes place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed for your baby’s comfort. The shoot is relaxed, unrushed, and includes three digital images of your choice, all for £95. There’s no sales session—just a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourites at your own pace.
