The Dreaming in the Clouds backdrop is a digital composite, and it’s one of the more popular options in the collection for good reason. A sleeping newborn in a heart-shaped cloud in a blue sky. It works.

A digital image of a newborn sleeping in a heart shaped cloud

In the studio, your baby is positioned in a wooden bowl filled with soft white stuffing and padded with blankets so they’re well supported and comfortable. That’s the base image. The sky and clouds are added in the edit, and the two are blended together to create the finished composite.

I’d love to have a set-up like this in real life, but the practical reality is that it only exists digitally, and honestly the results speak for themselves. It sits alongside the other real props and set-ups in a session rather than replacing them, so if you’d like to include it, it just becomes one more image in your gallery.

It works particularly well alongside simpler wrapped portraits, real prop shots, and family images, giving the collection a bit of variety without feeling out of place.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old. This is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully calm and natural images. I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can set a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
