When this family got in touch, they knew exactly what they wanted. Neutral colours, but still soft and feminine. Not pink, not bold – just delicate.
It’s a brief I really enjoy because it makes you reach for the props that do the quiet work. The little white bed, the cream wrap, the fluff, the florals. Everything working together without shouting.
Their daughter was just a few days old and slept beautifully throughout, which is every newborn photographer’s dream. That tiny bed is one of my most-used props for good reason — it works with almost any palette and there’s something about the scale of it that just makes you catch your breath a little.
Mum and dad came along, and so did Bella – their French bulldog and very much the first baby of the family. Bella was absolutely impeccable in the studio. Calm, gentle, and completely unbothered by the whole thing. She was a natural. We got some really lovely shots of the whole family together, dog included, which felt exactly right.
A new baby, a good dog, and a morning in the studio. That’s a pretty good start.
