When I open the Pumpkin Forest for Halloween photo shoots on October 17th, you won’t be the only visitors. I have staff members who shall also be in attendance – including this knowledgeable fox fellow.
Meet Jeremiah – the Forest Historian
Every forest has its stories, but in the Pumpkin Forest those stories are carefully kept by Jeremiah. With his plaid jacket, steady paws, and bright eyes, Jeremiah has long been the local historian – a keeper of legends, a collector of memories, and a teller of truths.
Jeremiah doesn’t write his history in books. Instead, he remembers. He knows which pumpkin patch first sprouted in the clearing, which paths are oldest, and which oak trees have stood watch since before the first lantern was ever lit. On crisp autumn nights, he gathers the younger creatures of the forest to share tales of past harvests and the brave souls who once ventured through.
Visitors sometimes find Jeremiah sitting quietly beneath the toadstools, observing, listening, and tucking away new stories to pass on when the time is right. He has a particular fondness for meeting children – he believes they carry the freshest chapters of the forest’s book, even if they don’t know it yet.
So if you hear a gentle voice among the pumpkins, speaking of ancient autumns and forgotten lanterns, chances are you’ve stumbled across Jeremiah. Listen well, for he remembers everything.
