A lot of people feel nervous about booking a session for themselves, and maternity is often the first time someone has been properly in front of a camera as an adult. It’s understandable.

The thing is, maternity sessions are probably the least pressured type of photography I do. In the nicest possible sense, you’re there to accessorise the star of the show, which is your bump. The attention is on that rather than on you, and that tends to make the whole thing feel a lot more manageable.

There’s no pressure to show any more skin than you’re comfortable with. Some clients mix fully dressed shots with bare bump images, some keep everything covered, some go the other way. It’s entirely up to you and nothing is ever assumed.

Nerves at the start of a session are completely normal. They don’t usually last long. Most people are surprised by how quickly they settle in once we get going.

Feeling a little nervous about booking?

That is completely normal. Most families arrive with at least one quiet worry, and almost all of them say afterwards that it was nothing like they expected.

If you are feeling unsure, this page covers the concerns I hear most often and why they usually turn out to be smaller than they seemed.

Maternity Photography in East Grinstead

My maternity sessions are very flexible affairs with my studio booked for an hour so we have plenty of time to create a really varied image gallery. You’re invited to select up to three backdrops and include up to three outfit changes so you can mix and match styles to create the perfect set of pregnancy memories.

I recommend booking your session between 28-36 weeks so you’re still comfortable and you’re also welcome to borrow any of my gorgeous maternity photo shoot dresses while you’re in the studio.  You select your pictures and order any more that you would like directly from your online gallery, there’s no sales or viewing session to attend.
