For maternity sessions I have quite a few different set-up options, and one of the most popular is the studio bed.

I have two different headboards to choose from. This is the more ornate one, which works really well for relaxed, lifestyle-feel maternity photos. The other is simpler and suits a cleaner, more minimal look. Both are worth knowing about when you’re thinking about the kind of images you’d like.

For bed set-ups I keep things fairly neutral so the focus stays on you and the bump rather than the props. That said, you can bring along your own accessories, a favourite throw or some cushions for example, if you’d like to add something personal to the set. I also have a range of studio wardrobe options if you’d prefer to borrow something on the day rather than bringing your own.

Poses for this set tend to be softer and more relaxed than standing shots. Sitting up, lying back, leaning against the headboard. It’s a good option if you want something that feels a little more intimate and less formal than a traditional portrait.

If you’d like to include a bed set-up as part of your session, just mention it when we’re planning things and we’ll make sure it’s included.

You’ll be able to make your selections on your options form the day before your session and they’ll be waiting in the studio when you arrive.
