When you’re turning one, it is definitely time to celebrate and start enjoying a brand new thing – birthdays!  For mum and dad, it marks the end of a somewhat crazy first year where they’ve watched you turn from a tiny newborn who needed everything doing for them into an often walking, sometimes talking little person with ideas of their own.  Clearly this is a milestone that needs marketing.  And cake, it definitely requires cake.

This little guy came to visit to celebrate and commemorate his first birthday with a cake smash and tub splash photo shoot and he was very pleased indeed to get involved with everything. His cake was great although he preferred to use one of my mini wooden spoons instead of his hands.  It’s not unusual actually that babies don’t like to get their hands dirty which is always surprising if you’ve ever weaned a baby or tried to keep one clean for more than two minutes at a time but there you go – I always have a stack of spoons on hand just in case, and experience has taught me that these can make a big difference.

Then it was time to get in the tub for a splash and a clean up and his mum chose my vintage tin tub along with my (very popular) duck accessory set.  He was quite fascinated by the giant duck and so at the end of the session, we let him share his bath with it.  I don’t do this until the end as sometimes the giant duck can look very enticing outside the bath but a bit big when you actually have him in there with you so he doesn’t always go down all that well – however this guy just loved him.  The way he is looking at his bath mate just cracks me up!

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.
