When winter settles over the Snow Forest and the berries grow scarce, most animals slow down. Not Tuppence. With his bright nose twitching and his paws already stained berry-purple, he trots eagerly through the frosty undergrowth in search of hidden winter treats.
A Hedgehog of Great Enthusiasm
Tuppence approaches life the way he approaches berries — enthusiastically, wholeheartedly, and often with no regard for cleanliness. He can squeeze into bramble patches no one else dares to try, emerging triumphantly with the last juicy berries of the season… and usually covered in purple smudges.
Niblet says he has “excellent morale.”
Clarence says he has “excellent enthusiasm, questionable tidiness.”
Lingonberry just chuckles and lets him ride on his back when he’s tired.
The Famous Pawprint Incident
Tuppence’s adventures are legendary, but none more so than the time he discovered a particularly magnificent blackberry crop right next to Clarence’s ceremonial lantern. In his excitement, he bumped straight into it and left a perfect, sticky pawprint on the side.
Clarence was horrified.
Tuppence was unbothered.
Niblet tried to wipe it off and made it worse.
Even now, Tuppence insists the purple star-shaped smear “added character.”
A Berry Scout With a Big Heart
Though he’s a whirlwind of paws and snuffles, Tuppence is endlessly kind. If he finds a good patch, he’ll always drag a few berries home for the others — leaving tiny purple tracks behind him like a trail of cheerful confetti.
Hedgehogs trust him, squirrels adore him, and even the birds chirp when he appears, because they know he’ll always share.
Joy in Every Snuffle
If you ever see a blackberry bush in the Snow Forest with a suspiciously tidy circle beneath it — and a few purple pawprints scattered around — you’ve found Tuppence’s handiwork.
He may be messy, but he fills the forest with sweetness and laughter. And really… what’s winter without a little colour?
