This wrap and bonnet set is a recent addition to the studio collection and it’s already earning its place. There’s something about the texture and the little frill on the bonnet that sits in that vintage territory without tipping into fussy which is a tricky balance to get right.
A lot of my newborn work is shot against darker backdrops, especially when props are involved. But light tones work just as well, and this session is a good example of that. Cream wrap, cream bonnet, the white fluff blanket I’ve had since I started out, cream florals, and a soft beige backdrop. Everything quiet, everything cohesive.
The overhead angle shows the whole composition off properly, the circular basket, the fur spilling out around it, the florals tucked in at the side. It’s one of those setups where everything is earning its place in the frame.
She slept beautifully throughout. A good session.
