a blacka nd white image of a big sister kissing their newborn sibling

Working with newborns and young siblings can be a little difficult because they are too small to offer safe support to your new arrival but of course you want to capture them both together.

This picture shows one way of getting the job done – I have a number of props that this works with including a miniature bed and the cutest little trolley.  This way everyone stays safe and you still get a great image. I should say though that there is always a parent just out of shot to make sure that everything goes as it should.   It’s also a good option for older siblings who may be able to technically hold their brother or sister but perhaps not in a way where you’re going to be able to pose them.  Or it also works if you just like the shot!  Multipurpose…

Including Siblings in Your Newborn Session

Siblings are always welcome at a newborn session. We work to their comfort level when it comes to posing them with your baby. Younger children, or those who aren’t confident holding a newborn, will lie on the floor together, which means there’s nothing to worry about other than getting a lovely expression. Older, more confident children can be seated with your baby supported safely in their arms. Either way, a parent is always just out of shot and ready to step in. Safety first, always.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

The best time for your baby’s newborn session is between five and ten days old, when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest and those calm, natural images come easiest. I’d recommend booking while you’re still pregnant, so we can pencil in a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
