a newborn sleeps in the arms of her older brother while an older sibling dances around

If you have ever brought a toddler to a newborn session, you will know this already.  Plans are suggestions.

This family came in hoping for some lovely sibling portraits with their brand new baby. We absolutely got some classic, everyone-looking-at-the-camera images. Calm. Composed. Frame worthy.

But we also got this.

One brother mid exclamation. One proudly holding his new sibling like the most important job in the world. A newborn doing what newborns do best. Sleeping through it all.  And honestly, I love this just as much.

Sibling photos are rarely about perfect symmetry. They are about personality. About capturing the dynamic exactly as it is in that moment in time.

The excitement.
The noise.
The pride.
The slight unpredictability.

That is what families look like.

In my West Sussex studio, I never expect toddlers to sit still and perform on cue. I work quickly, I adjust, I pivot, and we always get what we need. Sometimes the in between frames end up being the ones you treasure most.

If you are worried your older child will not cooperate during a newborn session, please do not be. I promise we will capture your family, exactly as you are.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old—this is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully serene images. To ensure you don’t miss out, I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—we’ll set a provisional date for a week after your due date and adjust if needed once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed for your baby’s comfort. The shoot is relaxed, unrushed, and includes three digital images of your choice, all for £95. There’s no sales session—just a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourites at your own pace.
