Dad and Me sessions work best when they’re built around what actually happens between the two of them rather than what looks good in a posed shot. Small babies don’t have much interest in looking nice for the camera. They do have a very strong interest in being thrown in the air by their favourite person.

So we set up for that, let it happen, and photographed it. That face says everything, pure delight, every time she went up.

It’s a good reminder that the best session images usually come from real moments rather than arranged ones. You don’t need to perform for the camera. You just need to do the thing you already do, in a space with good light and someone ready to capture it.
