Some props just earn their place in the studio again and again—and this pink velvet chair is absolutely one of them. With its scalloped back, soft texture and perfectly proportioned size, it’s become a go-to favourite for sessions with little ones of all ages.
Which is kind of fun as, I’ll tell you a secret, it’s actually meant to be a dog bed! It was one of those sought after Aldi special buys and I just knew it would be perfect – so much so that I bought it in grey as well.
Whether it’s being used for a sleepy newborn scene or a first birthday portrait full of personality, this chair always delivers. It’s pretty without being overpowering, and the soft pink shade works beautifully with so many colour palettes and themes. Plus little people tend to really like it – they’re always attracted to things that are right sized for them and if it keeps them still for long enough for us to get our pictures, then I’m all for it.
In the studio, I’m always on the lookout for props that are not just stylish, but genuinely functional. This one ticks every box. It gives babies a little support while they sit, and it frames portraits beautifully—especially when styled with seasonal flowers, soft throws, or bunting from my ever-growing studio stash.
If you’re planning a baby photo shoot with me, there’s a good chance this lovely little chair might make an appearance. And if you have a favourite outfit or theme in mind, we can tailor the setup to suit. After all, it’s not just about the props—it’s about creating something you’ll love looking back on for years to come.
