Sometimes a close-up is all you need. This little one was fast asleep and that hair was doing a lot of the work.

It got me thinking about something I’ve been quietly investigating for a while now. After making a video about old wives’ tales in pregnancy (including the one about heartburn and hair)  I started asking mums about it. Informally, unscientifically, and with no intention of publishing the results anywhere reputable.

The theory goes that lots of heartburn during pregnancy means your baby will arrive with a good head of hair. There’s actually a small amount of science behind it,  something to do with the hormones that relax the oesophageal valve also influencing hair growth, but I wouldn’t bet a research grant on it.

What I can tell you is that roughly 80% of the mums I’ve asked say yes, they had significant heartburn, and yes, their baby came out with impressive hair. This one would be firmly in the yes column.

My poll sample is entirely made up of people who happen to visit my studio, which is not exactly peer-reviewed methodology. But still. It does seem to hold up.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

The best time for your baby’s newborn session is between five and ten days old, when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest and those calm, natural images come easiest. I’d recommend booking while you’re still pregnant, so we can pencil in a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
