Lily had a very special birthday at the beginning of the year (the big ‘one three’ ) and decided to grab her three besties and come and celebrate in my studio with a birthday party photo shoot.
They had four outfit changes which they had obviously spent a lot of time planning and coordinating as they all looked fantastic – jeans and hats, onesies, black and whites and party dresses. All such different looks which let us play with lots of different ideas, styles, backdrops and poses and generally have a great deal of fun. All completely natural in front of the camera, we had so many giggles creating both group images and some lovely portraits of the girls on their own. Some serious, some silly, some jumping in the air, some lying on the floor, I guess you could say we ran the gamut! All in all, a brilliantly fun party photo shoot to keep us all warm on what was actually something of a cold January day…
Half the fun is in the girls getting together and co-ordinating their outfits and I have the most amazingly styled young clients ever – if you need any ideas, then just get in touch and I’m happy to chat about ideas we have had before or new ideas you have. It’s sometimes quite nice to bring along something more ‘formal’ for the end of the session such as prom or party dresses – that way the girls can really strut their stuff and channel their inner diva when they have fully relaxed into the experience. The emphasis in these sessions is always on having fun and building confidence (with age appropriate poses) and I gently guide the girls through every step of the process, teaching them some ‘modelling tips’ along the way so no experience is necessary. Usually the girls come out of the session absolutely fizzing with fun – all ready to move onto pizza, sleepovers, whatever else the day holds for them…
