Graphic reading every session shaped around you

Supporting Neurodivergent Clients in the StudioSupporting Neurodivergent Clients in the StudioOver the years, I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming so many wonderful families into my studio. And one thing I’ve learned—both as a photographer and as a parent—is that every child interacts with the world in their own way.

Some children (and sometimes adults too!) may be neurodivergent, whether formally diagnosed or not. Others may simply need a bit more calm, reassurance, or time to feel at ease. Whatever the case, it’s always my goal to shape each session around the individual in front of the camera.

There’s no pressure to perform, no rush to ‘get the shot’—just a gentle, flexible approach where comfort comes first.

What I Offer

Here are just a few things I do to help all clients feel more comfortable, especially those who may be neurodivergent:

Advance Preparation – I can send a short video ahead of time showing what the studio looks like—or, if it’s an event, a peek at the setup. Sometimes just knowing what to expect makes all the difference.

Familiar & Soothing Items Welcome – Whether you call them comfort items, transitional objects, or totems, I always encourage families to bring along anything that helps soothe their child. A soft toy, a special blanket, or something that feels like home is more than welcome here.

Calm, Quiet Environment – By nature, there will be a light that flashes when we take the photo but other than that, the studio is quiet, low-stimulation, and softly lit.  There’s space for breaks if someone needs to reset for a moment.

No Pressure to Perform – There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to posing or direction. Some children enjoy gentle games and mimicking, others need more time to observe before joining in. We take it at their pace, with no rush.

Always Learning, Always Listening

You don’t need to explain or justify anything to me. You don’t need to share a diagnosis. If there’s something that helps your child (or you!) feel safer or more comfortable, just let me know—I’ll do my best to accommodate it.

And if you’ve visited before and found something especially helpful, I’d love to hear about it. Your feedback helps me keep learning and improving how I work with all kinds of families.

You Know Your Child Best

At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure everyone who visits feels welcome, respected, and seen. If there’s something I can do to help create that for your family, I’m always happy to listen.

If you’re thinking about booking and want to have a quick chat beforehand, just drop me a message—there’s no pressure and no commitment, just a warm hello and a conversation about what might work best for you.

Why Choose Me?

There are lots of photographers out there, so why choose me?

Well, first of all, I really care. I know that stepping in front of the camera—especially with a new baby or a wriggly toddler in tow—can feel a bit daunting. But from the moment you walk through the door, my focus is on making you feel completely at ease. I’ve created a relaxed, welcoming space that’s all about you and your family.

I work from a purpose-built studio in Crawley Down, designed with comfort and calm in mind. I don’t rush sessions, and I never expect little ones to perform on cue. With over 15 years of experience, I’ve seen it all—so I’m patient, understanding, and always ready to work around naps, snack breaks, and shy moments.

My style is natural and classic. No cheesy props or awkward poses—just beautiful, honest images that reflect your family as you are right now. Whether you’re celebrating a brand new arrival, a first birthday, or simply want to capture your family as they grow, I’m here to help tell your story.
