Not every portrait session needs to be formal or traditional. Some are made to feel like stepping into a storybook. That’s exactly what I had in mind when I designed the new fairy set in my studio—an enchanting corner where little ones can be part of a whimsical world for a while.
There are lots of ways that you ca use your time in the studio and so, if you’ve been dreaming of creating a magical set of images for your child, then the fairy set is now ready and waiting to bring a little sparkle.
Designed for Daydreamers
The set has been created with soft woodland tones, dappled light, and delicate details that come together to create an imaginative backdrop. It’s perfect for those dreamy portraits that feel a little like a story you might read at bedtime. It’s an evergreen setup—meaning it’ll be available year-round, not just for spring or summer minis—and it can be added into any portrait session by request.
What to Bring
To keep things as personal and unique as possible, I ask families to bring their own fairy dresses (or any outfit that fits the theme you have in mind). Whether that’s a floaty dress with wings, something with sparkle, or a simple outfit that makes your little one feel magical, it’s totally up to you.
I don’t have a wardrobe of fairy outfits, because sizes and styles vary so much—and it’s always nicer when your child wears something they feel great in.
Best Ages for the Fairy Set
This setup is designed for children who can sit up by themselves and it can work with little fairies and imps that are this small. However, I recommend age 3+ being the perfect time to get the most from your session as, at this age, they will be able to interact with all of the forest elements and props that I have and you’ll get a much fuller gallery of images to treasure. Basically, this experience does work better when children are old enough to understand what fairies are and buy into the magic that we’ll be spinning for them. It’s suitable for up to two fairy sisters at one time.
A Forest Full of Magic
My Forest set is designed to feel as real and magical as possible and so I have lots of props that children can interact with from friendly forest creatures (don’t worry, they’re all very well trained!) to a magical fairy tale book, a lantern and even a mystical crystal ball. All of these props come with their own back story which I will explain to your child so they can share in the fairy story! I want them to actually feel like they are a fairy who is having their image captured rather than just a child attending a photo shoot so I have a whole lot of magical lore that’s woven into the Forest to make it feel real for them.
A Little Moment of Magic
The fairy set is available as a standalone theme for a full portrait photo shoot and it’s the perfect chance to create a magical set of images – the cost for the session is £95 including three digital images and you’ll have the chance to purchase more from your online gallery if you’d like to. As with all of my photography, there’s never any sales meetings or high pressure sales sessions to attend, just beautiful images in a private online gallery.
