I first met the older of these two girls at her aunt and uncle’s wedding, when she was still a toddler. That was a good few years ago now. Both families have been coming back to the studio regularly ever since – I photographed her little cousin’s newborn session, followed her through Baby Club, and they pop in for events throughout the year too.
This visit was straightforward – just an update on the family portrait, the two sisters together. No particular occasion, no milestone. Sometimes that’s reason enough.
The blue worked out well without anyone planning it. Her t-shirt, the print on her little sister’s dress – it just came together. Those are often the nicest sessions. No overcomplication, just two sisters sitting together looking exactly like themselves.
It’s one of the things I like most about having families who keep coming back. You get to watch everyone grow up, and the photos build into something that actually tells a story over time.
