Baby Jaxon came to visit for his newborn photos at my studio in Crawley Down, just outside East Grinstead.  It was the day of Storm Doris and earlier that morning a tree had fallen and blocked the door to the studio (luckily not doing any damage!) but after a bit of hefting and sawing we were open for business and I’m so glad we were.  I would have hated to miss this little fellow and his mum and proud big sisters.

He was such a good little boy in the studio and he slept well after a little break for feeding and fussing to pose for his pictures.  He even favoured me with a few of those sleepy smiles and before you say it, yes I know people say it is just wind, but I choose to believe it is sweet dreams!  And maybe in the picture that I’ve shared here, a little pride in an excellent gun show!  The shot was originally meant to be a close up of his adorable baby fist but he just smiled and I managed to zoom out just in time to catch it.  Mostly, newborn photography is a lot of work and practice but sometimes, I won’t deny that there’s a little luck involved too…

We made time at the end of the session for some family portraits and also some of Jaxon safe in the arms of his big sisters.  If you look closely on the one that I’ve shared, you’ll see that all three of them are actually smiling – a sign of things to come I think.

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
