I’ve been photographing newborns since about the time that it became mainstream in the UK and over that period I’ve seen an explosion in the amount of props and accessories that are commercially available to include in your photo shoot.
I thought I’d seen most of them but shows what I know as this was a totally new set to me, the cutest little police set! You can’t see it in this variation of the shot as it has the police teddy in it, but it actually comes with a little set of knitted handcuffs. I mean, come on!
It’s the perfect addition to a family that is rightfully proud of their police heritage and also the perfect addition to this wonderful lad who was so super sleepy that he didn’t even stir when I slipped the outfit on him. One of the things that I love most about my job is the fact things are always evolving and new opportunities to include gorgeous items are always presenting themselves – this was a real little treat.
I have a range of props and accessories that you can select from before you come along to your newborn photo shoot but you’re always welcome to bring along your own items to include so your finished images really reflect how you are as a family.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
