It actually makes me a little bit sad to say this but this is the very time I’ve had the chance to do create newborn photography with a mermaid theme!
Of course, any sadness I feel at how long I have been waiting for this moment is totally overwhelmed with my joy when my client arrived with the beautiful crochet mermaid doll to include in her newborn photo shoot! So I practically ran to my prop store to grab my bag of sea shells (they are part of a tub splash accessory set) and created a little miniature themed set in my large wooden bowl to complement things. I sure didn’t need asking twice!
This little mermaid was actually a little older than I’d normally recommend for a newborn photo shoot but she actually settled really well and despite being a bit fidgety by the time that we got to the mermaid part of the session, there was no way I was going to give up and not get the image I was already in love with so we wrapped, shushed and rocked until she was ready to settle for a few minutes. Long enough to make my little heart very happy indeed!
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
