Casper is an autumn baby and his mum and dad wanted his newborn photos to reflect this.  They got in touch with  me in advance of his session and we worked out some ideas for things that they may like – it’s always worth doing this so I have time to rifle through my prop archives and put together something things that might work in your images.  Of course, it’s a great idea to bring along your own items as well and obviously I don’t absolutely everything that I’d love to have – despite what my husband might tell you.

The resulting images are some of my favourites – especially the ones with the autumn leaves although having the cutest model certainly doesn’t hurt!  It’s not essential to turn up to a photo shoot with ideas and I’m more than happy to go with the flow and we can just work through things on the day according to your baby’s preferences (some of them have really strong ideas about what they’d like to do!) However, I’m always up for a challenge and if you have ideas, then you should always feel free to share them with me. Like I say, it helps to know in advance so I have time to make sure I’m prepared and we can never guarantee a particular shot given the aforementioned preferences of some babies but we can work together to create the perfect image set for you.

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Your session will be in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down (£95)
