It was only last week that I posted about having the chance to use my newborn wooden hammock for the first time and it was back in the studio nearly the next day – this time with a favourite bear to accessorise it!
It’s quite strange how props seem to get used in runs at the studio – you don’t use something for ages and then suddenly everyone requests it at once. It’s always fun to see some old favourites come back into action. In this case, this is a relatively new addition and it was lovely to get it out again. When I used it before, it was with a super tiny baby and this time I discovered that a pillow is needed to add to the comfort for a sleeping newborn – when I work with a new prop, there’s always a period of working out how to get the best out of it. I’ve now got a custom made pillow for it so I’m ready for anything. In this case, a favourite bear was used to accessorise the shot and I love the simplicity of the result. It really keeps the focus on the star of the show (the baby, not the bear!)…
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
