Everything about my natural newborn photography set ups have been geared towards maximum baby comfort and minimum photographer intervention.
That’s not to say that my traditional newborn photography makes your baby uncomfortable of course but there is definitely more posing involved, especially when it comes to using props. Conversely, it’s also not to say that I don’t intervene in your natural newborn photography session in order to get you the best images possible. Of course, I am always working and gently moving and posing your baby so they look their best. It’s just a simpler way of working to create you more lifestyle type of images.
That’s one of the reasons why I added in my Moses basket set up. When babies are first born, one of their favourite places to nap (if it isn’t on their parents) is in one of these. I think it’s just a naturally cosy environment for them especially when compared to a cot which must feel like a vast space compared to where they’ve been spending their time until recently.
The Moses basket set up is not only cosy – it can be customised with blankets to match your colour scheme and also it’s a great place to add props like florals or birth announcement details if you’d like to!
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
