This is Samuel, and his mum and dad chose my giant wooden bowl from the prop selection for his session.

A little newborn boy asleep in a wooden bowl surrounded by flowers and lying on a blue blanket

It’s one of the most popular props I have, and I think it’s because it’s so versatile. It can be dressed in almost any colour or style, and I’ve used it with flowers, seasonal foliage, mermaid themes, birth announcement sets, and plenty more besides. For Samuel we wanted to include flowers but keep things feeling boyish, so blue it was.

Sessions always start on the giant beanbag, which is where most babies settle into a deep sleep. Once they’re settled you have the option to move them into a prop if you’d like to, though plenty of people prefer to keep it simple and just work with the beanbag, and the photos look just as good that way.

I send an email the day before your session so you can let me know what you’d like to include. That way everything is ready to go when you arrive and we can make the most of the time we have.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old. This is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully calm and natural images. I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can set a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
