Not everybody wants a girly styled session for their newborn little girl but when they do, we go all out for the floof factor.
The mum and dad of this little princess bought along a little tutu and headband so of course we had to set up a shot to include them. Actual outfits are a little bit difficult to work with in terms of newborn as it’s hard to get them in an out of them without disturbing them but with a fluffy tutu, we actually cheat and just lay it over them and tuck it underneath. They can carry on sleeping and no-one is any the wiser!
If you do have a special outfit that you’d like your newborn photographed in, then I’d recommend bringing them along in it so we do it first then we can gradually work back from that. Alternatively, you could save it for the end of the session as sometimes folks like to have them in their Sunday best for family photos – both options work equally well.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
