The twig nest is one of those props that photographs really well from above, the circular shape, the curly fur lining, the cream wrap, all of it contained within the frame in a way that feels considered without being overthought.

And it’s a good example of what neutral tones actually do in a newborn session. The palette here is cream, warm caramel, natural brown, nothing that shouts, nothing that dates. The result is an image that will sit comfortably on a wall regardless of what colour that wall is, what furniture is around it, or how the room changes over the years. That’s a practical consideration that doesn’t always come up when people are planning a session, but it’s worth thinking about.

Neutral and textured is very much where newborn photography is right now, and it’s easy to see why. It works.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

The best time for your baby’s newborn session is between five and ten days old, when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest and those calm, natural images come easiest. I’d recommend booking while you’re still pregnant, so we can pencil in a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
