Trends in newborn photography shift over time, just like anything else. Natural newborn photography has been growing in popularity for a while now, and it’s something I’ve been watching with interest.

Props and accessories haven’t gone away, but one of the phrases I’m seeing most often on newborn options forms is “natural photos.” It feels like a move away from the more complex, prop-heavy set-ups that were popular a few years ago. People want to simply capture their newborn as they are, with nothing getting in the way.

For this family, that meant a really simple session. Their baby stayed dressed throughout, and we mixed solo shots against a plain white background with some family photos together.

I’m not one of those photographers who has a set style and tries to fit everyone into it. These are your photos, and the session should reflect what you actually want. If you want to keep it simple, we will. If you love the accessories and want to go for it, brilliant. And you don’t have to pick a lane and stay in it either. If you generally want things simple but fall in love with one of the props along the way, we can absolutely include it. Whatever works for you works for me.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old. This is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully calm and natural images. I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can set a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
