My natural newborn photography style is a more relaxed style of newborn photography. We work with my bed set and Moses basket to create your images with a more lifestyle ‘at home’ feel to them.
In this type of session, your baby won’t ever be naked although we might strip them to their nappy in order to get them in a swaddle and we will probably work with swaddles and wraps a lot of the time. Outside of this, I recommend plain sleepsuits and vests as being a great clothing option for timeless images.
Of course, there is still the same level of professional lighting and posing as in a traditional newborn session but there is general less intervention with your baby. For this reason, it’s perfect if your baby is a little outside the standard 14 day newborn window and therefore likely to be a little more easily disturbed or wakeful. As you can see from the image above, working snugly wrapped means that your baby is more likely to stay relaxed and happy to be photographed even if they are wide awake.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
