Alongside my traditional newborn photography, in 2022 I added a natural newborn option to give my studio visitors the option of choosing something with a more lifestyle feel for their newborn photo shoot.
You can choose between the two styles of photography when you get your photo shoot options form the day before your session. With the natural newborn option, there will be a bed set up and a Moses basket set up. You can choose between two different floor colours for the Moses basket – either light or dark and you can see the difference in the two photos above. Of course all blanket and wrap colours work well with both but I think the dark option pairs particularly well with lilacs, purples and navy.
Just because it’s entitled Natural Newborn, it doesn’t mean that we can’t add some floral flair of course and this is another option that looks great in the Moses basket. Plus it’s stuffed with blankets to make sure your little one is kept cosy and comfortable while we capture their images.
I recommend the Natural Newborn option if you are including young siblings, don’t want naked photos of your newborn, or just if you fancy a more relaxed style of finished images.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
