This little bed is one of my favourite props in the studio. It’s been here for years and it works beautifully for all ages, from tiny newborns tucked in and fast asleep, right through to sitting babies who look like they own the place.
All of the quilts you’ll see in the video are handmade by me. That means every single one is a little bit different, and there’s nothing quite like them anywhere else. But the quilts are really just the starting point.
The bed is one of those props that looks completely different depending on how you dress it. A simple white sheet gives you something clean and timeless. Layer in a textured wrap and a chunky knit and it feels cosy and warm. Add a delicate bonnet and a few dried flowers and it takes on a completely different character. The quilt sets the tone, but the wraps, blankets and accessories you pair it with are what make the look feel personal to you and your baby.
When you book a session at the studio, we talk through all of this together beforehand. There’s no pressure to know exactly what you want, most people don’t when they first get in touch, and that’s absolutely fine. We’ll look at the prop collection, talk about colours and textures, and work out what feels right for your family.
