How it Started vs How it’s Going

There’s a baby portrait on my wall that will always have a special place in my heart. It was the very first studio portrait I ever captured—taken on film, no preview screen, and a whole lot of nervous energy.

Fast forward more than twenty years, and here I am, still photographing babies, still singing The Wheels on the Bus, and still loving every minute.

What’s changed?

Just about everything. Digital photography has transformed how we work. I’ve learned, adapted, grown, and invested in my studio (and let’s be honest—my prop collection is now a thing). The tools I use are slicker, my editing is sharper, and my confidence behind the camera has grown with every shoot.

But what hasn’t changed?

The magic of capturing a moment. That little glint in a baby’s eye. The gummy grins. The tiny fists and chubby cheeks. The pure joy in a parent’s face when they see the image that captures their little one perfectly.

That’s what got me into this business in the first place—and it’s what keeps me here.

If you’re thinking of booking a baby session, just know this: you’re not just getting someone who knows their settings inside out. You’re getting someone who’s built a whole career around making sure you feel comfortable and your baby feels safe, happy, and celebrated.

And that’s something I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of.
