Brown leather footstool studio prop
white vintage footstool studio prop

These are two of my favourite props in the studio – my go to footstools and they’re always available for you to use at your portrait photo shoot.

The brownish red one is actually my oldest prop – it was one of the first things we bought when we opened our studio a little shy of 20 years ago but it’s still such a useful studio prop on so many occasions.  Many people of all ages have stood by, sat on or laid under it and, although I usually like to refresh my props on a regular basis so I don’t get bored, if it ain’t broke.  The silver one is actually something I upcycled from the smallest table in a nest of tables in our house – it wasn’t very popular with my husband if I’m honest but he walked in when I was already half way through and so it was kind of a fait accompli at that point.  It’s a great one for little ones who’ve just learned to stand while supported and it’s neutral colour means it goes well in lots of different set ups. Come to think of it, it’s pretty old too now actually!

I like to have props for any occasion and so this is just a glimpse into my stash!
