Family pictures are always an option at your newborn session. Not obligatory at all, not everyone is feeling the love for the camera after a few days of very little sleep, but the offer is always there.

If you’re on the fence, my honest advice is to go for it. If you don’t like the images, you never have to look at them again. But you can’t get this moment back once it’s gone.

There are lots of ways to be included, from just having your hands in the shots with your baby, through to a more traditional family portrait. This demi-silhouette is a lovely option if you want something a little different or you’re not quite feeling camera-ready. Most of you will be in shadow, but the image captures the three of you becoming a family, and I think it does that rather beautifully.

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old. This is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully calm and natural images. I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can set a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
