Children and Teen Party Photo Shoots

Children and Teen Party Shoots

While I used to offer children’s and teen party photo shoots, I’ve made the decision to no longer offer these sessions. Over time, I’ve shifted my focus to more intimate portrait experiences that allow me to really capture the unique personalities and milestones of each child or family. While I’m no longer doing party shoots, I’m still here to capture family portraits, newborns, maternity, and milestone moments, and I’d love to create beautiful memories with you in a relaxed studio setting.

What to Expect from a Party Photo Shoot?

I’ll be there to greet you on the driveway when you arrive for your party photo shoot and, once you’ve got everything you’ll need, we’ll head up the short path to the studio. Once we get inside, I’ll show you the changing area where you can put down your bags and then we’ll have a quick chat about what you’ve brought with you so that I can plan your session.  Then it’s time to get into your first outfit and away we go with the photo shoot fun.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never had professional photos taken before, or if you’ve only been in a studio when you were a tiny tot, I’ll take you through all you need to know to look your absolute best including some of the modelling tricks of the trade!  We work through each of your outfits creating images of you all together and some of each individual guest as well so everyone will have the perfect souvenir from the party.   Some photos will be fun, some will be moody, some will be downright cheesy – there’ll be something to suit everyone.

I usually recommend ending up with your fanciest outfit – perfect if you’re bringing along party dresses or prom outfits.  That way we go out on a Hollywood style high when you’re well into the swing of modelling and can really strut your stuff.

Once you’re all done, you’ll gather up your stuff, pack your bags and head off to your next adventure… Pizzas, sleepovers, cinema, whatever!  My work isn’t done though. I’ll be taking all of your photos through to my editing suite so I can give them a little digital love and sparkle before I make them available to you to download (usually about two weeks after your session).  Print them, love them, share them as much as you like!

All the way through the session, the emphasis is on having fun and building your confidence in front of the camera.  I’ll guide you through absolutely everything you need to do and keep it all age appropriate – this is an ‘all giggles, no stress’ style session.

Choosing your Outfits

One of the most fun things about these parties is getting together to choose what you’re all going to wear.  You have up to four outfit changes in your session and I definitely recommend that you take on the role of stylist when you’re putting your looks for the shoot.  The thing to do is think about designing four different looks for yourselves and it’s always fun to end up with something a bit more formal / fancy.   If you’re looking for inspo, these are some ideas that people have used in the past…

  • Onesies – complete with slippers and teddies of course
  • Jeans and t-shirts – can’t go wrong with classic blue denim and white t-shirts
  • All neons – bust out your brightest colours with tutus and headbands
  • Leggings and crop tops – plain and simple or as funky as you like
  • Sports wear – pick your favourite sport and showcase your talent
  • Winter coats, hats and wellies
  • Party dresses – perfect for the end of your session and getting a little bit fancy
  • Your imagination is the only limit!

Don’t forget the accessories!

Boring Logistical Stuff about Party Photo Shoots

My studio is a great, versatile space with lots of different lighting and backdrop options so we can create images in almost any style.  However, it’s not the largest of places when it comes to people who aren’t taking part in the photo shoot. I definitely recommend only having one parent staying throughout the shoot (I do need an adult present at all times) so if you’re coming separately, you need to arrange to get dropped off and picked up at the end of your shoot.

Come as you want to get photographed – so with your hair and make up already done.  There’ll be time for touch ups and quick hair ups when you change outfits but you don’t want to spend all your time in the changing room and miss out on time in front of the camera.

Definitely bring along some water to keep yourselves hydrated while you’re ‘working’. I don’t recommend bringing along other snacks and drinks though – not because I’m mean but because there really won’t be a lot of time for snacking.  However, if you are bringing sweets or snacks to keep you going, please remember that I will be stealing some of them while you’re changing so prepare to share 🙂

A peaceful moment captured in the studio—this tiny sleeper was an absolute dream. I kept things soft and classic with creamy whites, dusky florals, and a rich pop of purple for contrast. Simple, elegant, and timeless.
