When you visit for a cake smash and I’m explaining how we set it up, I always end by saying that we never know what’s going to happen.
The wondrous unpredictability of a cake smash is what makes them fun – will they love the cake? Will they try to eat it really fast before we take it away? Will they be thoroughly confused with the mixed messages of asking them to make that much mess? Any and all of these can happen in one session, it really is an ‘anything goes’ kind of a vibe in the studio.
Sometimes, they like to use their feet instead of their hands. Sometimes they are happier standing by the cake than sitting with it and sometimes, as was the case with this little lady, it is much more fun to try and crawl past the cake. For some reason, she found it very funny to try and crawl off and then laugh and me shaking my head at her. Hey, I don’t mind – whatever gets the shot!
