One of the wonderful things about a cake smash is that you never know what is going to happen. Some babies aren’t interested in the cake but go nuts in the tub, some stuff cake into their mouths like it’s going out of fashion.
This unpredictability means that anything goes at first birthday photo shoot. In this case, our man was happier to pose with his cake while standing up for some of the session and I’m a great believer in working with the circumstances as they are, so we just made the most of his happy little face showing off his standing skills!
All of my sessions are led by your baby’s comfort and confidence levels and they vary by individual and by day. We never force your little one to do something they’re not keen on – apart from being mean to a baby being generally considered to be a bad thing, you wouldn’t get any good photos anyway. So if they want to stand up, we find a way to make it work!
