There’s something to be said for keeping it simple when it comes to portrait photography and very small babies.
When they’re four or five months old like this guy, they are obviously still pretty limited in terms of how they can support themselves and also they famously don’t have a lot of patience when it comes to be messed about with changes of clothes etc.
That’s not to say that I don’t have a range of props that suit this age range – as long as they are really confident on their tummies – but we do tend to stick to my giant beanbag as it’s a comfy place to pose – the comfier they are, the more smiles we are likely to get.
Of course, there’s always time for outfit changes but I’d suggest keeping them to no more than three outfits and we can try and save some wriggling if they can be layered under each other. For example, if you want pictures of your baby in a simple vest, then make sure that it’s already under their other clothes. Less fuss, less hassle, more photos!
