a little girl in a peach outfit on my vintage suitcase prop

A lot of families prefer to keep the backdrops light and neutral at their photo shoot and that clean bright style is certainly lovely.

However, this particularly family wanted to go for darker bolder shades and I actually think these can create some very beautiful photos.   Of course when I say darker and bolder, I don’t mean that the finished image is at all gloomy as this picture demonstrates.  We kept the backdrop on the darker side with my ‘Dark Shutters’ drop and dark wood floor but then lifted it with my vintage suitcase prop and a pop of peach in terms of the flowers which happened to perfectly match a dress that the family had brought along.

Of course you don’t need to pick just one style for your photo shoot – you’re free to mix and match but I’d just gently nudge you not to discount the darker colours as not being suitable for babies as they really can work.
