a close up of a wide eyed baby in the studio

I like to get a few close up shots whenever I take a baby portrait so you can really appreciate all those little details.

This little shot is kind of an example of where a shot didn’t turn out as planned but I love it anyway.  I had things set up that his parents were straight in front of him and I was aiming for a close up shot of his profile to really show off those beautiful blue eyes.   However, as is usually the way with babies, he had other ideas and decided to find me instantly fascinating.  So I grabbed the shot anyway and I’m glad I did – I also got the profile shot after a bit of coaxing so we had the best of both worlds.

Long ago, when I started working with babies, I learned that babies have no care for whatever I think would make a nice photo and they will do as they please so it’s best just to roll with it!
