There is a particular kind of Sunday where everyone is home, nobody can think of anything to do, and the day slides past without anything much happening. These lists are for those days.
Twelve of them, one for each month, with fifteen or so ideas each. Nothing expensive, nothing that needs booking in advance, and nothing that requires anybody to be especially organised. Just the sort of thing that makes a month feel like it had something in it.
They are seasonal, so January is soup and puzzles and slow evenings, and July is picnics and sandcastles and staying up a little later. Print the one you need, stick it on the fridge, and cross things off as you go. Or ignore half of them, which is also allowed.
Winter
January is for hibernating properly. Winter walks, hot chocolate with too many toppings, a reading challenge, and permission to declutter exactly one small space rather than the whole house.
February leans into cosy. Handmade cards, heart shaped biscuits, pancake night, and a reading nook built out of cushions.
December is the busiest one, so it is deliberately more about the small things than the big ones. Matching pyjamas, letters to Santa, and a cosy winter sunset.
Spring
March is for looking for signs of spring. Seeds planted indoors, a kite, a nature journal, and lambs in a nearby field.
April brings Easter, blossom walks, puddle jumping and the first proper attempt at growing something.
May is bluebell woods and flower crowns and the first outdoor movie night of the year.
Summer
June is beach days and dens and camping in the garden.
July is picnics, sandcastles, stargazing and golden hour photos.
August is the long stretch of the holidays, so it has the bigger days in it. Day trips, rock pooling, crabbing at the harbour, and one day with no screens at all.
Autumn
September is apple picking, conkers, the first cosy soup of the year, and back to school photos.
October is pumpkins, toffee apples, spooky stories and a crisp autumn walk.
November is leaf art, bonfire night, sticky toffee pudding and a gratitude list.
A note on printing
All twelve are A4 and print without scaling. If you would rather not print, they work perfectly well on a phone screen propped against the kettle.
They are free, and there is nothing to sign up for. New ones will be added here as the year goes round.
