Newborn sessions are a completely different experience to shooting with mobile babies or older children. They’re calm, warm, quiet sessions – the aim is to keep baby in a deep enough sleep that I can move and pose them gently without disturbing them.
It doesn’t always go to plan, of course. Newborns can be just as strong-willed as toddlers. But this little one was happy to snooze and pose, so she absolutely deserved her crown.
Her mum and dad wanted plenty of black and white images, so we went with a black backdrop. It’s a striking combination in colour, and converts really cleanly to black and white too. When you receive your newborn gallery, images will be included in both colour and black and white so you can see how each one translates.
